I make hundreds, thousands of choices each day, but there are three things I do every day that make the biggest difference in my health and happiness.
1. The first thing I do every day when I wake up is make a conscious decision to do my very best that day. Now along with that decision comes preparation. To get the most out of my day, I have to have a plan for that day. And sometimes you need a plan for that plan! Each day is too precious to waste when it comes to my family, my career and of course, my health. Having a plan, whatever that looks like for you, doesn’t mean you’re not flexible, it means you can better maneuver the curve-balls that will be thrown at you. Being mentally prepared makes a big difference in how your day turns out.
2. The next thing I do every single day is do some form of physical activity outside of normal day-to-day activity. Sometimes it’s a full workout with my NuStep, sometimes it’s just going for a walk. Here’s the most important part though: there are no rules to what this activity has to be. You just have to move! Please don’t compare your activity to someone else’s activity. Everyone is a unique individual. If you compare yourself to someone else it will detract you from your activity and deprive you of the joy you could experience along the way. Stay within your means of being active and you’ll be more consistent and for longer; it can even become a lifelong practice!
3. Finally, I try to never worry about yesterday or tomorrow. It only takes away from today. It’s not about blowing a diet or exercise program today so giving up until tomorrow or doing amazing yesterday so “cheating” today. My mother would always tell us something and I didn’t understand it at the time, but it stuck with me. She always said, “Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.” Stay focused on what’s happening today to be successful!
Stay healthy my friends.
