“Its swivel seat allows for an easy transfer.”
Being a C4, 5, and 6 complete quadriplegics there isn’t a whole lot of equipment to exercise with. I was introduced to NuStep around 4 years post spinal cord injury from my bike accident. I couldn’t pull, push, or step on the NuStep on my own at the beginning but as time went by I gained enough strength to use it with minimal assistance now. I love this machine because its swivel seat allows for an easy transfer. I will continue to use the NuStep for cardio workouts and to strengthen my upper and lower extremities.

“I really feel like I did make a transformation with NuStep.”
Tom Hoatlin was just 28 years old when he was shot during an armed robbery at his workplace. He suffered a spinal cord injury that meant he would never walk again and would need to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
When he finally discovered the NuStep at the Center for Independent Living, he was able to see his legs move for the first time in 17 years and get the cardiovascular workout he had been missing. Exercising on the NuStep helped Tom lose weight, build his endurance for daily activities and inspire him to live a healthier life. Watch Tom’s video to learn more about his injury, recovery and passion for NuStep.
